What is Work-for-hire?
- Work-for-hire (AKA “buyout”) agreements are those in which you, the Developer/ Company, are hiring an Audio Production Studio as a contractor and are purchasing audio outright that becomes property of your Company. You obtain most of the rights associated with the compositions and have exclusive right to the audio.
What is Exclusive licensing?
- Exclusive licenses are agreements in which the Audio Contractor retains ownership of the audio, but the Developer/Company obtains the exclusive right to use the audio. It is a nice compromise between work-for-hire agreements and non-exclusive licensing for those who have a limited budget, but need original content including but not limited to film-makers, game developers, and those who produce and distribute online media via YouTube, iTunes, SoundCloud, etc.
What is Non-exclusive licensing?
- Non-exclusive licensing is the most affordable way to have music developed through Sonaesthetics. With this method, you are purchasing the development of music that you obtain rights to use for a project, while the composer maintains the rights to the music and may still sell or otherwise use the same audio developed for your project in other subsequent projects for other parties.
