That's a delicate balance. Kidneys process pain meds and would be taxed by the sleeplessness, so taking anything isn't wise. Why the kidney pain is there in the first place is a concern -- is previous damage ongoing? Etc.

:( i have no great advice, but make sure he drinks lots of water. And I wouldn't give him any medicines (drugs, herbs, etc) that are cleared by the kidneys until he's sure his kidneys are OK. Good luck! Thanks for being with him. He's got a lot of friends who care about him very very much. We love you, Michael!

Maybe try drinking water with lemon essential oil. They help break down blockages such as stones that may be causing the pain. If it's not stones, it's still a healthy drink as it helps the immune system and digestive system, so no harm done.

Thank you everyone for your concern and your advice!

Mariah: there was previous damage eating too much protein with not enough water with a stack of ~20 supplements every night for a number of days. This was roughly a year ago and this pain lasted for several weeks but then went away after drinking lots and lots of water over time. The first morning, it felt like the claws of hell were pulling down on my lower back.

Also, really good detox is soaking in water with baking soda and Epsom salts. Add some of the juniper oil mentioned before, but also marjoram, lavender and sweet orange essential oils. They're very good together for helping aid sleep. Rub some grapefruit essential oil over the kidneys on your back to help detox them, in addition to some lavender which will help with inflammation.

Everyone: Thank you all from the deepest place within my heart for your advice and attention. I just wanted to show you that we took a lot of your suggestions to heart and I made a lovely epsom salt, pink grapefruit Himalayan salt, lavender, candle-lit bath for Michael last night. We went to PCC after getting pho with Michael's mom and sister, and made the most amazing shopping run ever-- the easiest hundred bucks I've ever spent. Special thanks to Stella Hawthorne for spending such time and energy with us last night. Our conversations, breathing meditation, and meeting with your lovely little birdies was a true help in calming both of us. You are truly a healer and your energy is amazing. Michael, in the midst of having a headache, has found the meaning behind your wishes for a dream of a queen and a silver hat, as he as applied some colloidal silver to his third eye for cooling down his mind. Last night, I applied some of that grapefruit essential oil and tea tree oil to the area in effort to start the cooling process and he drank a cup of water that we put a mixture of turmeric, organic pepper flakes, and cayenne into to help with reducing swelling. Colostrum has also been a great saving force when our appetites have not been full enough for solid food. Much love! We are well on our way in the patient process of healing and couldn't have done it without you all! <3
